Important lesson I have learnt from UIRBefore taking this subject as my cds, i have never think that searching have so much techniques require, like i have learnt by using different boolean the will be different in the amount of search result. Like for example, use AND the result be be more focus rather then use OR.
And after all this lesson, I really get to know more about what internet can be use for and what it can help me in. Like for some website that i don't even know before i attend this subject is,
www.asiaone.com,
www.talkingcock.com, the meta search engine etc.
lastly, the fun part of this subject is blogging, at i did mention on my first post, I am a lazy person who do not like to update my blog offen, and from this subject I have try hard to keep myself regular on blogging.

Practical 8 on talkingcock.comBefore i take this UIR subject, i really don't know that this website exist.
Entering this website and have a chance to go browse through this website is really fun, the topic that they will comments on and some jokes and singlish use is really interesting.
I think this website is sustainable as this could act as an entertaining source and also a place for Singaporean to voice out their view.
How would i react to this website if i am:
- Singapore's Prime Minister
well, if i am the prime minister i will be rather sad to see how Singaporean have that kind of negative idea of Singapore and will feel some how helpless as i can't stop all this as this is Singapore, everyone have their rights to have a say.
but in the other way round, i will also be able to have an idea of what people out there are thinking.

I will definitely think that, okay, so finally there is a place like this for Singaprean to voice out their view without showing their face on tv or public. This is for sure a good idea but by seeing how they make fun of our own county, somehow it reflect some negative thoughts from others.

if i am a foreigner, i probably will say "ohh, so this is one part of the singaprean that we don't seldom see".

E-learning Week
what I need to do on this e-learning week is that i have to post what i have research and the the one and only website that i have chosen to use.
I have to post it on the wiki @ wetpaint and this is not the first time i have use wiki already. Previously i have use wikispaces for one of the subject. wikispaces and wiki @ wetpaint both allow us to share our idea and comments but however for this time assignment we do not need to comment. All we have to do is create a sub- post under blkA grp p10 and under that we will have our grp name. All menber research will be under one post.

Practical 6a & bMy Dream Holiday~My dream holiday will be Japan. I have always want to go there, but well, it was expensive some how no matter is it for the air ticket or shopping and eating over there. ^^
The snow there at Hokkaido was one of the most beautiful thing i would like to experience, the seafood and also the fuji mountian, so many story about it that makes me want to go ecperience it out myself.

Practical 4 & 5
Compare the search results. Identify 2 characteristics that make all 3 search facilities similar or different from one another.
There is so many search engine out there for me to choose which one i would want to use for this practical, and i decide to go with this 3 that is quite common to us.I found out that when i type the same word to search at this 3 search engine, yahoo directory, Google search and Metacrawler, they give me different total of result being found. And another characteristics i found out is the layout design that is different. Google Search Engine.

Do you find any strength/weakness of each of them, in terms of search capability?
I did 3 different kind of research on yahoo directory, Google search engine and Metacrawler. They each have their own strength and weakness.
yahoo search directory - the result found relating to my research is relevant but somehow it is quite limited as it is done by human and the website is arrange into the category that is state there.
Google search - strength is that the result is more than the yahoo directory search and i will be able to explore on more of other website relating to my research topic but the weakness is that there is too many of them that i do not know which one to start with and it will be quite time consuming to go through all of them.
Metacrawler search - the search result found was all from other search website like yahoo.com, Google.com, MSN search and ask.com. And i am able to see one or two result that is practically not related to what I type to search for.
Overall, which search facility best meet your searching needs? why?
Before i do my research on Google, i did find yahoo directory search is the best that meet my searching needs but after doing my research on Google, I find that Google search is better as there is a lot of different website information about cancer that cannot be found on yahoo directory as maybe it is arrange by human, so it is some how limited resource but still, very reliable.
Reflection
In this lab I learnt how to use different search engine to look for what i want and know that using different boolean the search result will also change.

E-Shopping Spree!!new activity..If I have $500 what will I buy online??
It is Sony T2 and is selling at $304.95, but the 1st time i visit i saw the price is at $294. but well.. never mind doesn't matter that much =)
okay, back to this activity, if i have $500, I will definitely buy this camera, and after buying this, I will have roughly less then $200, I will properly save it.

Time for some reflection on this practical 3..
What I have learnt:
I have almost forgotten about the coding for linking my blog to my friend's blog, from this activity, I kind of remember how to links to my friend's blog and also other website.
I also learnt where to put my link on those HTML coding and also where to place my tag box..
As for the e-shopping spree, I really like this although the $500 isn't real but i still get to shop for what I like as I did not go to any online website to shop before.

Reflection on Practicals 1 & 2well, seriously saying, i didn't really do much research on my topic during the class on practical 1 but i did do my research on practical 2 and i found out that there is lot and lots of website relating to the topic that I was doing. It is like so many that I do not know which is the best or better website that i can use, so currently i am still looking at some of it and still deciding on which website I am going to use.For practical 2, what I need to do is find out one website each for personal and organisational relating to the topic that I am doing.Personal website: http://aidsblog.blogspot.com/Organisational website: http://www.oncolink.org/I have done some reading on this two website, although the personal one is blogging about things related to AIDS while the organisational site is stating about Cancer information, but the organisational site is very up to date as there is news and information till 8Th may 2008 while the personal one is like they have stop blogging since last year which was 2007 July.The personal site is sharing about AIDS and HIV. How you can prevent, and also showing some campaign and some news of the latest treatment towards AIDS/HIV.As for the organisational site, they have just posted some latest treatment and also tell us more about what kind of cancer there is and some ways to cope with cancer.
